About the London Trip and my Research Project

In May of 2019, I will travel to London with a group of students and professors to London for our three week study abroad program. Every student has to complete a research project while in London on any topic of their choice. Some students choose to do something related to their major/studies while others may choose a topic that interests them. Of course, the first thing on my mind was football. Luckily, I got the topic approved by my professor, because it is a huge part of the British culture and the project presented would present cultural awareness.

It took me awhile to figure out what exactly I wanted to research on. How does someone exactly research football? Then it hit me, I needed to do a project on the fan culture in England. People in the United States who aren’t into football would not really understand the fan culture of football, so why not present it to them through a project? For my project, I will be presenting how a supporter experiences the culture of football. I plan on visiting multiple football pubs in London, attend two Man City games (one women’s game and one men’s game), visit the National Football Museum in Manchester, take a tour of the entire Etihad Campus, and whatever may come my way. My experiences will be logged in this blog throughout the trip, and I plan to post before we even leave for the trip. Once the trip is over, I will keep up with this blog, because I am always talking about football. I am happy to share my journey with you!
